Editable Handbook

Depending on your computer’s settings, you might open an NCEES reference handbook in your browser rather than as an editable PDF. If this occurs, follow the steps below to open the handbook as an editable document.

1. If your handbook has opened in your web browser, click on the download button (down arrow shown in the red box) to save the document to your computer. A “Save As” window will open, allowing you to save the document to your desktop (or other preferred location).

2. Right click on your document, click “Open with”, and select Adobe Acrobat.

3. Your document should open in Adobe Acrobat. You’ll see the mark-up options in the top left corner. From here, you can choose to highlight text, insert comments via sticky notes, etc.
